The Rhaetian Railway is one of the largest private railways in Switzerland, has a route network of about 400 km, connects world tourist destinations such as St. Moritz and Davos with the "Glacier Express", and has been a sister of the Hakone Tozan Railway in Japan for 35 years.
The ABe 8/12 'Allegra' is a three-car multiple unit used on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). They are dual voltage, which allows them to run on both the core network (11 kV 16.7 Hz) and on the Bernina Railway (1000V DC). The "Allegra" is a vehicle with a unique low-floor body structure that boasts the same output as a locomotive even though it is a train, and is also active in towing passenger cars. Has a braking device. It is a high-performance vehicle that can be transformed from 100 km / h on the main line to the road surface, and is active on each line of the Rhaetian Railway.

- The car number of the formation is commercialized as 3506 formation. The nickname "Anna von Planta" on the side of the lead car is also reproduced.
- Narrow gauge railway (1m gauge) called meter gauge is reproduced in N gauge (1/150). A small radius vehicle that can pass through the Unitrack Compact R150.
- Accurately reproduces the multiple pantographs equipped with 2 power sources (An AC/DC train that is compatible with AC 11kV 16 2/3Hz on the main line and 1000V DC on the Bernina Line. )
- Accurately reproduces the light body shape that does not suit a high-output vehicle
- The front emblem and inscriptions on various parts of the car body are printed. The front display is "IR Chur"and the headlights light up in 3 places. The tail light reproduces the one-sided lighting of the white headlight on the right side when the passenger cars are connected. The jumper plugs at the front end are realistically expressed with separate parts. The front part is a dummy coupler, and the middle part is a short coupler for Glacier Express.
Standard equipment. Includes 2 short couplers for connecting the front end and 2 short couplers for Glacier Express passenger cars. By replacing it, it is possible to tow the Glacier Express passenger train with <Allegra>

The 3 car Allegra is a brilliant model, Some users have said that its detailing surpasses that of similar Allegras available in other scales (I cannot confirm this personally!) The units run very smoothly and are capable of hauling additional coaches or freight cars as the full size Allegras do ( check out RhB Livestream webcams) Kato close couplers are provided in the pack and these are easily changed with the dummy couplings fitted,
Directional lights are fitted, as per some Swiss rules 2 on front (leading car) and 1 on the trailing car (although not sure if this rule still apllies currently)

I have eagerly awaited the latest production run of this model and it does not disappoint. A beautifully detailed model which comes with the usual smooth running of Kato products, and at an extremely competitive pricing. It was also another perfect transaction with the highly recommended Train Trax, and the 'Pre-Order' facility that is available is a first rate option.
