Description
There are 10 three-car trains and 27 two-car trains for one man operation (as of 2020) of the Series 701-0 at the Akita Train Center.
The Series 701-0 operates only in the Akita area, and is characterised by the tail light being positioned lower and an electric generator installed as a auxilliary power unit.
It supports regional transportation over a wide area, mainly in Akita between Shinjo and Aomori on the Ou Main Line, between Sakata and Akita on the Uetsu Main Line, and between Aomori and Akanita on the Tsugaru Line.
