Description
Keikyu 230 which was characterized by the clear cut design and operated on Keikyu line. This is a train car designed 16 m long with 2 doors for interurban operation. Despite its pre-war manufacture, it looked stylish with large windows and regarded as one of the renowned coaches representing the pre-war private railway company trains with then cutting-edge technology incorporated.
Keikyu 230 was originally operated on Keikyu mainline till 1972 and after that ran on branch lines such as Daishi line and Airport line till 1978. Part of train cars were transferred to Takamatsu Kotohira Electric Railways and seen travelling till 2007.
Features
● Only one train of “Keikyu Blue Sky” which exists in the fleet of Keikyu Series 2100 is very unique with sea gull mark on the blue body symbolizing sea on Miura Peninsula and sky above Tokyo Narita airport.
● Keikyu Series 2100 began the service in 1998 to succeed series 2000 on Keikyu mainline and Kurihama line. Series 2100 is an iconic train with two-door cars and direction convertible cross seats. It is operated mainly as rapid train or commuter express (named “Wing”). The body is made of aluminum and painted ivory beneath the windshield on the front side of top car. On the wiper cover beneath the windshield the model number is displayed in letters looking like slits. The side windows are made un-openable and as wide as 950 mm vertically.
● It used to be installed with an inverter made by Siemens nicknamed “Do re mi inverter” and the train is called “singing train” due to the melody of sound it makes.
● It would be a great fun to run the train to the melody sound played by the sound card inserted on your sound box.
