Description
Series 813 is the first train equipped with VVVF inverter of JR Kyushu. The total of 255 cars was manufactured till 2009 and put in service centering in Hakata and Kita Kyushu regions.
Depending on the manufacturing ages, train Nos. are divided. Trains numbered 200s make the largest group which was produced between 1997 and 1998. Trains numbered 300s make a small group consisting of 3 trains only which is distinguished in the appearance from the former with the UV protective smoked window panes.
This is a 3 car powered set, an Additional 3 Coaches are available to create the prototyplical 6 car train.

The side display is printed in white to correspond to stickers.

One of the best sets you can get for Japanese EMU's - the motor itself is virtually silent and the silver/ribbed sides add a classic Amtrak feel to the typical Japanese EMU's. The red highlights and the 'full glass' stylised front really helps this stand out and the bright blue panto graph equipment just adds to the experience, all that for a lower price than many other EMUs! Although it does not come in the fancier KATO packaging as its only a 3 car set.
